Murgon Report 

Numbers were back to 800 for Murgon’s fortnightly sale. Weekend rain caused some cancellations. Most descriptions sold to very firm values, with some slight increases in backgrounding cattle depending on quality. Bullocks sold to $4.70 c/kg for $2664.00. Bulls topped at $3.98 c/kg for $3550.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $3.96 per kilogram and $2740.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $3.88 for $1670.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $2.90 & $980.00. Export heifers topped at $4.40 c/kg and $2330.00. & $1310.00. 

Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mundubbera, Biggenden, Mt Perry, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy, Kandanga, Kilkivan & locally.

404 kg Charbray steers from Nanango sold to $2010.00 at $4.98 c/kg. Santa cross steers from Crownthorpe, 490 kg sold for $2370.00 at $4.82 c/kg. Santa cross steers 370 kg from Proston sold for $5.28 c/kg returning $1960.00. Local Charbray steers weighing 338 kg sold for $1780.00 at $5.26 c/kg. A line of 112 Charolais, Santa & Angus cross steers from Kandanga Creek sold for an average of $5.08 c/kg, 310 kg & $1578.00. The line topped at $5.40 c/kg and $1690.00. Local Charbray weaners sold for $1580.00 at $5.38 c/kg & 2995 kg. Brangus weaner steers from Cinnabar sold for $1290.00 & $5.30 c/kg. Wagyu cross heifers from Crownthorpe weighing 465 kg sold for $4.10 c/kg to return $1900.00. Local Santa cross heifers 460 kg sold for $1880.000 at $4.10 c/kg. Local Simmental cross heifers weighing 385 kg sold for $1770.00 at $4.58 c/kg. Santa cross heifers 335 kg sold for $1415.00 at $4.22 c/kg. 345 kg Simmental cross heifers from Gayndah sold to $1450.00 at $4.20 c/kg. Speckled Park heifers 290 kg sold for $1250.00 and $4.32 c/kg. Charolais cross weaner heifers from Moffatdale sold for $1090.00 and $4.40 c/kg. Brangus weaner heifers from Nanango Sold to $1100.00 and $4.20 c/kg. Aged Droughtmaster cross Cows & Calves sold to $1725.00.      

Murgon Market Report

Agents yarded 1600 Tuesday for the fortnightly liveweight sale. The quality of the cattle definitely determined the pricing. Export cattle sold to a fully firm market. Feeder steers and heifers were slightly easier as were lighter heifers. Better quality weaner steers remained fully firm on the last sale. Bullocks sold to $4.68 c/kg for $2660.00. Bulls topped at $3.95 c/kg for $3410.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $4.00 per kilogram and $2300.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $4.02 for $1980.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $3.78 & $1380.00.  Export heifers topped at $4.42 c/kg and $2390.00. Steers 400 to 500kg sold to $4.86 per kilo and $2060.00. Steers in the 300 to 400 kg bracket topped at $5.04 c/kg and $1810.00.  Heifers 400 to 500 kg sold to $4.40 and $2180.00. The market for heifers in the 300 to 400kg bracket topped at $4.20 per kilo and $1560.00. The best of the weaner steers sold to $5.48 per kilo for $1470.00.  Better quality weaner heifers topped at $4.48 and $1180.00. A single Limousin Cow & Calf unit sold for $3500.00. The balance of the pen sold to $2900.00

WEANER HEIFERS SELL TO $5.28 c/kg

Agents yarded 1700 for the first sale for 2026. Export cattle numbered 450 with the balance being feeders & backgrounding cattle. The overall quality of the yarding was above average. Bullocks sold to $4.58 c/kg and $2870.00. Bulls topped at $3.96 c/kg and $3600.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $4.13 per kilogram and $2880.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $4.08 for $1950.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $3.45 & $1310.00. Export heifers topped at $4.46 c/kg and $2250.00.  Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mundubbera, Durong, Biggenden, Mt Perry, Mooloo, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy & locally. A draft of 52 Santa steers from Manumbar sold to $5.18 c/kg for a top of $2590.00 and an average of $2460.00 (475 kg). 350 kg Brangus steers from Moffatdale sold to $5.40 c/kg to return $1900.00. 2 pens of Charbray steers from Leafdale sold to $5.40 c/kg to return $1898.00 & $1888.00 respectively. A line of 100 Braford steers from Gayndah sold to $5.86 c/kg averaging $1587.00 and topping at $2074.00 for an average weight of 270 kg. Charbray weaner steers from Manyung sold to $5.64 c/kg returning $1810.00. Sant cross steers from Windera sold for $1630.00 at $5.54 c/kg. Charbray weaner steers from Stonelands sold for $5.74 c/kg and $1485.00.
