Localised rain reduced numbers to 550 at Murgon’s fortnightly sale. The market for export cattle was 10 – 15 cents dearer than the previous sale. Better quality Steers & Heifers to suit backgrounders were also dearer. Bullocks sold to $3.24 per kilo for $1890.00. Heavy Bulls topped at $2.90 c/kg for $2860.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $2.73 per kilogram and $1650.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $2.64 for $1300.00. Cows up to 400kg topped at $2.40 per kilo and $940.00. Export heifers sold to $3.20 per kg and $1520.00. Steers 400 to 500kg sold to $3.80 per kilo and $1620.00. Steers in the 300 to 400 kg bracket topped at $4.10 per kg for $1520.00. Heifers 400 to 500 kg sold to $3.20 and $1520.00. The market for heifers 300 to 400kg topped at $2.90 per kilo and $1130.00. Weaner steers topped at $4.10 per kilo for $1300.00. Agents yarded 660 head yesterday for Murgon’s fortnightly sale. The overall quality of the yarding particularly the Export section was down on the previous sale. The number of Export cattle yarded was well down, and prices eased yet again. Better quality feeder & weaner steers were firm as were better quality heifers. Bullocks sold to $3.10 per kilo for $1750.00. Heavy Bulls topped at $2.68 c/kg for $2580.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $2.52 per kilogram and $1530.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $2.49 for $1210.00. Cows up to 400kg topped at $2.30 per kilo and $860.00. Export heifers sold to $2.84 per kg and $1250.00. Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Nanango, Yarraman, Kingaroy, Proston, Durong & locally.

Cows up to 400kg topped at $2.10 per kilo and $720.00. Export heifers sold to $3.26 per kg and $1670.00.
