Only 350 were yarded in Murgon, with wet conditions being the major factor for the shortage of numbers. Only a small number of Export cattle were yarded selling 10 to 15 cents dearer on the previous sale. Feeder steers & heifers were also dearer. Bullocks sold to $3.66 c/kg and $2630.00. Bulls topped at $3.12 c/kg for $2000.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $3.20 per kilogram and $2420.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $2.75 for $1310.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $2.12 c/kg. Very few export heifers were yarded selling to $2.82 c/kg and $1450.00. Steers 400 to 500kg sold to $3.96 per kilo and $1950.00. Steers in the 300 to 400 kg bracket topped at $4.15 per kg for $1640.00. Heifers 400 to 500 kg sold to $3.40 and $1600.00. The market for heifers 300 to 400kg topped at $3.44 per kilo and $1280.00. Better quality weaners were also in short supply. Steers topped at $4.38 per kilo for $1150.00 & weaner heifers sold to $3.50 and $1050.00. Cows & Calves sold to &1250.00.

Murgon Agents yarded 1050 yesterday. Cattle were drawn from Mount Perry, Gayndah, Nanango, Manumbar, Wondai, Proston, Hivesville and the local area. Only a few Bullocks were yarded. Heavy Cows, Export Heifers & Bulls were 10 to 15 cents dearer than the previous market. Heavy feeders were slightly dearer as were better quality weaners. Bulls sold to $2.98 c/kg topping at $2870.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $2.96 per kilogram and $2020.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $2.90 for $1350.00. Export heifers sold to $3.44 per kg and $1920.00. Steers 400 to 500kg sold to $4.00 per kilo and $1840.00. Steers in the 300 to 400 kg bracket topped at $4.24 per kg for $1495.00. Heifers 400 to 500 kg sold to $3.20 and $1560.00. The market for heifers 300 to 400kg topped at $3.18 per kilo and $1260.00. Show quality Limousin steers from Wondai 200 to 300 kg topped at 491.2 to return $1,240. Santa steers from Gayndah sold to 430c/kg to return $1,180, 2 pens of Santa steers from Manumbar also sold for 430c/kg to top at $1,150, Charolais steers from Mount Perry sold to 422c/kg. 76 head of quality Charolais and Heriford cross steers from Hivesville topped at 424 c/kg to return $1,447 and averaged 390c/kg at 332kg average, Angus steers from Mundubbera sold to 388c/kg to return $1,495 per head. Brangus Heifers from Gayndah sold for 332c/kg and 280c/kg to top at $520 per head, Santa heifers from Manumbar made to 272c/kg. Limousin heifers from Wondai weighing 279kg sold to 389c/kg to return $1,085. 3 pens of Charbray heifers from Mount Perry sold for 318 to top at $680. Droughtmaster heifers from Nanango weighing 286kg made 280c/kg to return $803 per head. Santa heifers from Manumbar made 318c/kg to return $1,265, while Santa heifers from Proston made 300c/kg to return $1,162. Cows & Calves sold to $1425.00.

Heavy bulls topped at $3.00 per kilo and $2650.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $3.06 per kilogram and $2020.00 averaging $2.86. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $2.90 for $1440.00. Cows up to 400kg topped at $2.10 per kilo and $720.00. Export heifers sold to $3.26 per kg and $1670.00. Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Biggenden, Nanango, Kingaroy, Proston, Durong & locally.
