 WEANER HEIFERS SELL TO $5.28 c/kg

Agents yarded 1700 for the first sale for 2026. Export cattle numbered 450 with the balance being feeders & backgrounding cattle. The overall quality of the yarding was above average. Bullocks sold to $4.58 c/kg and $2870.00. Bulls topped at $3.96 c/kg and $3600.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $4.13 per kilogram and $2880.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $4.08 for $1950.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $3.45 & $1310.00. Export heifers topped at $4.46 c/kg and $2250.00.  Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mundubbera, Durong, Biggenden, Mt Perry, Mooloo, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy & locally. A draft of 52 Santa steers from Manumbar sold to $5.18 c/kg for a top of $2590.00 and an average of $2460.00 (475 kg). 350 kg Brangus steers from Moffatdale sold to $5.40 c/kg to return $1900.00. 2 pens of Charbray steers from Leafdale sold to $5.40 c/kg to return $1898.00 & $1888.00 respectively. A line of 100 Braford steers from Gayndah sold to $5.86 c/kg averaging $1587.00 and topping at $2074.00 for an average weight of 270 kg. Charbray weaner steers from Manyung sold to $5.64 c/kg returning $1810.00. Sant cross steers from Windera sold for $1630.00 at $5.54 c/kg. Charbray weaner steers from Stonelands sold for $5.74 c/kg and $1485.00. Angus weaner steers from Hivesville sold for $1520.00 at $5.70 c/kg. 490 kg Charbray Heifers from Wooroonden sold for $4.48 c/kg returning $2255.00. Red Brangus Heifers from Brigooda sold to $2310.00 at $4.40 c/kg. Angus/Charolais Heifers from Nanango sold to $4.48 c/kg and $2195.00. 333 kg Charbray Heifers from Nanango sold for $1660.00 at $4.98 c/kg. Angus cross Heifers, 340 kg from Manumbar sold for $4.50 c/kg returning $1530.00. Charbray Heifers from Elginvale weighing 378 kg sold to $1650.00 at $4.36 c/kg. 308 kg Brangus Heifers from Wooroonden sold to $1465.00 at $4.74 c/kg. Shorthorn cross Heifers from Mundubbera sold for $4.48 c/kg and $1434.00. 286 kg Brangus Heifers from Mooloo sold to $1260.00 at $4.40 c/kg. Local Charbray weaner Heifers sold to $5.28 c/kg for $1393.00. Charbray weaner Heifers from Stonelands sold to $4.74 c/kg returning $1160.00. Murray Grey Cows & Calves sold to $2300.00.

Murgon Market Report   

Agents yarded 650 in Murgon yesterday. Patchy localised rainfall in the past week slowed numbers down compared to the previous sale of 1150. The market was fully firm throughout. Export numbers were in short supply with just over 120 yarded. Better quality feeder cattle sold very strongly as did the better quality weaners. Bullocks sold to $4.12 c/kg and $2190.00. Bulls sold strongly topping at $3.94 c/kg for $3800.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $3.64 per kilogram and $2460.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $3.48 for $1680.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $3.26 & $1240.00.  Export heifers topped at $3.78 c/kg and $1850.00. Steers 400 to 500kg sold to $4.74 per kilo and $2160.00. A draft of 60 2 & 4 tooth Charbray steers averaged 425 kg for $1970.00 at $4.74 c/kg.  Steers 300 to 400 kg topped at $4.88 per kg for $1705.00. 33 Santa steers averaging 320 kg sold to $1670.00 to average $1570.00 at $4.88 c/kg. Heifers 400 to 500 kg sold to $3.66 and $1700.00. The market for heifers in the 300 to 400kg bracket topped at $3.60 per kilo and $1290.00. Weaner steers sold to a top of $5.16 per kilo for $1315.00.  Better quality weaner heifers topped at $3.84 and $920.00. Brahman cross Cows & Calves sold to $1500.00.

Murgon Market Report

Numbers jumped to 1150 at Murgon’s liveweight sale today. Out of the 1150, 250 were Export cattle, the balance being feeders & re-stocker types. Better quality Export cattle remained fairly firm, otherwise it was slightly cheaper for lesser quality less finished types. The same applied across the board for feeders and weaners. Depending on quality, smaller heifers were tougher in places. Bullocks sold to $4.12 c/kg and $2490.00. Bulls topped at $3.72 c/kg for $3980.00. Cows over 500kg sold to a top of $3.60 per kilogram and $2180.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $3.60 for $1760.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $3.08 & $1150.00.  Export heifers topped at $3.878 c/kg and $1790.00. Steers 400 to 500kg sold to $4.66 per kilo and $2150.00. Steers 300 to 400 kg topped at $4.70 per kg for $1760.00. Heifers 400 to 500 kg sold to $3.70 and $1700.00. The market for heifers in the 300 to 400kg bracket topped at $3.80 per kilo and $1490.00. Weaner steers sold to a top of $5.34 per kilo for $1400.00.  The better quality weaner heifers topped at $3.92 and $910.00. A small number of crossbred Cows & Calves sold to $1350.00.
