Just over 1000 head yarded in Murgon yesterday where vales remained firm for the better quality cattle. Heavy feeder cattle were easier as were lesser quality lighter steers and heifers. Bullocks sold to $3.44 c/kg and $2610.00. Heavy Bulls topped at $3.00 c/kg and $2330.00. Cows over 500 kg sold to $3.01 c/kg and $1695.00. Cows 400 to 500 kg sold $2.76 and $1360.00. Heavy heifers to slaughter sold to $3.50 c/kg and $2220.00.
Cattle were drawn from all local areas as well as Biloela, Mt Perry, Gayndah, Durong, Blackbutt and Wallaville.
2 pens of Charolais steers from Wyalla, weighing 473 & 334 kg sold to a top of $3.82 c/kg to average $1381.00. Angus cross steers from Wooroonden sold to $3.40 c/kg at 452 kg for $1539.00. Santa cross steers out of Proston 334 kg sold to $3.70c/kg and $1237.00. 283 kg Angus cross steers from Redgate averaged $1090.00 at $3.84 c/kg. Good Droughtmaster weaner steers from Gayndah weighing 282 kg sold for $3.86 to return $1091.00. Local bred Charbray weaner steers topped at $4.00 c/kg returning to $1160.00.

Kilkivan bred Charbray heifers sold for $2.96 c/kg weighing 267 kg to return $792.00.

Heavy Bulls topped at $2.96 per kilogram and $2590.00. Heavy Cows over 500 kg sold to a top of $3.16 per kilogram and $2260.00 averaging $2.97 cents per kilo. Cows 400 to 500 kg sold to $2.87 per kilogram for $1340.00. Cows up to 400 kg topped at $2.66 c/kg & $1040.00. Export heifers sold to $3.25 per kilogram for $1660.00.
