1450 were yarded yesterday for the fortnightly liveweight sale. The total included about 300 Export cattle. Bulls, Bullocks and better conditioned Cows sold to strong competition as did better feeder types and better quality weaners. Bullocks sold to $4.64 c/kg for $2570.00. Bulls topped at $3.98 c/kg for $3220.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $3.98 per kilogram and $2850.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $3.92 for $1860.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $3.60 & $1200.00. Export heifers topped at $4.52 c/kg and $2380.00.  

Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mt Perry, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy, Kilkivan & locally. Local Angus steers 540 kg sold for $2660 at $4.90 c/kg. Simmental and red Angus cross steers from Redgate sold for $4.86 c/kg to return $2570.00. 415 kg Santa steers from Cobbs Hill sold for $2030.00 and $4.90 c/kg. 440 kg Santa steers from Moffatdale sold to $2170.00 and $4.90 c/kg. Angus steers from Crownthorpe weighing 358 kg sold for $5.20 c/kg returning $1860.00. Local Droughtmaster steers 350 kg sold for $1785.00 at $5.10 c/kg. 295 kg Santa cross steers from Windera sold to $1615.00 at $5.46 c/kg. Most descriptions sold to very firm values, with some slight increases in backgrounding cattle depending on quality. Bullocks sold to $4.70 c/kg for $2664.00. Bulls topped at $3.98 c/kg for $3550.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $3.96 per kilogram and $2740.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $3.88 for $1670.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $2.90 & $980.00. Export heifers topped at $4.40 c/kg and $2330.00. & $1310.00.

Murgon Market Report

Agents yarded 1600 Tuesday for the fortnightly liveweight sale. The quality of the cattle definitely determined the pricing. Export cattle sold to a fully firm market. Feeder steers and heifers were slightly easier as were lighter heifers. Better quality weaner steers remained fully firm on the last sale. Bullocks sold to $4.68 c/kg for $2660.00. Bulls topped at $3.95 c/kg for $3410.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $4.00 per kilogram and $2300.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $4.02 for $1980.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $3.78 & $1380.00.  Export heifers topped at $4.42 c/kg and $2390.00. Steers 400 to 500kg sold to $4.86 per kilo and $2060.00. Steers in the 300 to 400 kg bracket topped at $5.04 c/kg and $1810.00.  Heifers 400 to 500 kg sold to $4.40 and $2180.00. The market for heifers in the 300 to 400kg bracket topped at $4.20 per kilo and $1560.00. The best of the weaner steers sold to $5.48 per kilo for $1470.00.  Better quality weaner heifers topped at $4.48 and $1180.00. A single Limousin Cow & Calf unit sold for $3500.00. The balance of the pen sold to $2900.00
