Murgon Agents yarded 850 Tuesday. Most descriptions sold to dearer rates with most improvement seen in the Export department. Heavy Bulls sold to $2.70 per kilogram and $2320.00. Heavy Cows over 500 kg topped at $2.83 per kilogram and $2080.00 averaging $2.74 cents per kilo. Cows 400 to 500 kg sold to a top of $2.57 per kilogram for $1250.00. Lighter Cows under 400 kg sold to $2.04 c/kg. Export heifers sold to $3.22 per kilogram for $1850.00. A big increase on the top of $2.66 last sale. Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mt Perry, Mundubbera, Nanango, Kingaroy, Proston, Kilkivan, Wolvi and locally. Few heavy feeders steers were yarded selling to $1340.00 and $2.76 c/kg. Local Droughtmaster steers 388 kg sold for $3.66 c/kg and $1422.00. Angus cross steers from Murgon sold for $1380.00 at $3.52 c/kg. Numbers were back to 350 in Murgon for the Sale of the 9th of July. The market was dearer throughout with export cattle seeing the most improvement. Heavy Bulls sold to $2.55 per kilogram and $2245.00. Heavy Cows over 500 kg sold to $2.52 per kilogram and $1415.00, up 25 to 30 cents on last sale. Cows 400 to 500 kg topped at $2.37 per kilogram for $1140.00. Lighter Cows under 400 kg sold to $1.60 c/kg. Export heifers sold to $2.66 per kilogram for $1260.00.

Pratt Agencies Annual Weaner Show & Sale was held on Friday the 3rd of May. Just over 900 quality Burnett weaners were yarded. Since the season changed for most at Christmas calves have done exceptionally well and was evident with the yarding averaging 270 kg. A good buyers panel was in attendance with calves going to the Darling Downs, North Burnett, central Queensland and locally. Numbers were back to 650 for Murgon’s fortnightly sale. Export cattle were cheaper yet again. Above average quality feeders were firm, with lesser quality being easier. Better quality weaner steers and heifers remained reasonably firm. The market for lesser quality lighter cattle was tough. Heavy Bulls sold to $2.28 per kilogram and $2220.00. Heavy Cows over 500 kg sold to $2.16 per kilogram and $1350.00. Cows 400 to 500 kg topped at $1.84 per kilogram for $890.00. Cows under 400 kg were short in number and sold to $1.55c/kg. Export heifers sold to $2.20 per kilogram for $1180.00. Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Nanango, Kingaroy, Kilkivan, Gympie & locally. Local Charbray steers 510 kg sold to $3.28 c/kg to return $1675.00. Angus cross steers 475 kg sold for $3.29 c/kg and $1560.00. Heavier feeder cattle were slightly cheaper also. Heavy Bulls sold to $2.76 per kilogram and $2300.00. Approximately 250 Cows were yarded with Cows over 500 kilograms selling to $2.82 per kilogram and $1890.00 for an average of $2.46 per kilogram. Cows 400 to 500 kg topped at $2.50 per kilogram for $1160.00. Cows under 400 kg topped at $2.10 c/kg, averaging $1.95 c/kg. Export heifers sold to $2.80 per kilogram for $1690.00.
